10,000 signatures in the first 72 hours

A husband and wife from Burns, Oregon in Harney County drove over two hours to pick up petitions from our Bend kick-off event. And they requested enough petition sheets to collect over 50 signatures from their rural town!

The Petitions are IN!

Our petitions to get the freedom to marry on the ballot are in! This is an amazing step toward extending the freedom to marry to all loving, committed couples in Oregon. This Friday, July 26th, we will kick-off the petition campaign in cities all across the state.

MEDIA RELEASE: Signature Gathering Drive for the Freedom to Marry Initiative Launches Friday, July 26

Now is our moment

We want the freedom to marry because we are in love with each other, we are committed to each other and because marriage strengthens families and would strengthen ours. We were the first same-sex male couple to marry when marriage was briefly legal in Multnomah County.

We can win in Oregon!

We are going to be among the first to sign the petition. We are going to be among the first to ask others for support. We are going to be there at the start when we win the freedom to marry for all loving and committed couples, regardless of gender.

Making a difference for Khalil

Our country is on a journey of understanding, and as more and more people talk to their friends, neighbors and loved ones, they are realizing that marriage is something that matters to all families. Oregon is now the only state on the west coast that doesn’t have marriage for same-sex couples.

The freedom to make that one-of-a-kind vow

The fact that it’s illegal for me to marry the person I love – that is what’s motivating me to get petitions, to get out there and collect signatures, to start this conversation with Oregonians about why marriage matters to committed couples like me and Steve.

Joan is joining the Rapid Response Petition Team – Are You?

I know that there are other loving and committed couples out there who want the freedom to marry. Marriage strengthens families, and I believe in treating others as one would want to be treated. I can’t sit back. Our families are on the line.
