Love is the law in Oregon

Love is the LawLove won in Oregon—big time.

Last Tuesday, for the first time, we woke up in a state that values and protects all families. And now we live in a state where no one will ever again be denied the freedom to marry the person they love. It’s pretty incredible.

Thanks to you, we’ve built a movement unlike any other our state has seen before—and we’ve (successfully!) made the case that Oregon is ready for marriage equality.

In April, Oregon United for Marriage noted in an amicus brief that if the judge ruled in a way that allowed for same-sex couples to marry by May 23, we wouldn’t need to move forward with the signatures. Today is May 23—and hundreds of loving couples have secured licenses and exchanged vows across the state. We are very confident we no longer need the ballot measure. We have won—and we aren’t going to let anyone take this away from us.

We will remain united: United to secure full equality for LGBT Oregonians, and united to ensure that across the country, no one is denied the opportunity to marry the person they love.

As loving gay and lesbian couples finally share in the freedom to marry, there’s no doubt that they have our amazing grassroots supporters across the state to thank for it. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for an announcement about our upcoming victory party in Portland. We hope to see you there!
